                          We Worship Together

Trinity Sunday – Peace With Justice Sunday

                                              June 11, 2017

Personal Meditation:   “Therefore, I do not see how it is possible for any to have vital religion who denies that these Three are one.  And all my hope for them is, not that they will  be saved during their unbelief, (unless on the footing of honest Heathens, upon the plea of invincible ignorance,) but that God, before they go hence, “will bring them to the knowledge of the truth.”  John Wesley, Sermon 55, May 8, 1775

*CALL TO WORSHIP                                                    Psalm 8:1-6; 9

Leader:    O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all

the earth!  You have set your glory above the heavens.

People:    Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded

a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and

                 the avenger.

Leader:     When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,

                 the moon and the stars that you have established;

People:     What are human beings that you are mindful of them,

mortals that you care for them?

Leader:     Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and

crowned them with glory and honor.

People:     You have given them dominion over the works of your

hands; you have put all things under their feet,

Leader:      O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in

                  all the earth!

                               Scripture, Songs and Sermon

OLD TESTAMENT LESSON                                             Genesis 1:1-2

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the

deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters.

NEW TESTAMENT LESSON                              I Corinthians 13:11-13

When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I

reasoned like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways.  For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face.  Now I know only in part; then I will  know fully, even as I have been fully known.  And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.

*GOSPEL LESSON                                                  Matthew 28:16-20

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.  When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.  And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Leader:  The word of God for the people of God.

People:  Thanks be to God.
