Prayer Shawl Ministry

FUMC's prayer shawl ministry is called "Loving Hands/Loving Hearts".  They meet the first Tuesday of each month.  The 4pm meeting is in the dining room alcove.  Currently there are 12 active members of this ministry.

"A Prayer Shawl is a shawl that is lovingly hand knit or crocheted out of a soft, comforting yarn, blessed by the one who has made it, and wrapped around the shoulders of someone who needs the sort of comfort only the love and generosity of a caring friend can provide." (from The Prayer Shawl Companion by Janet Bristow & Victoria A. Cole-Galo, founders of shawlministry.com)

The group meetings are a time of sharing & fellowship. Members bless the shawls that have been completed, usually with Pastor Jerre's help.   Members knit on current projects while discussing who might need a prayer shawl as well as sharing thank-you's and experiences of those receiving prayer shawls.

Completed Prayer shawls and prayer squares are placed on the altar to be blessed during Sunday worship services by Pastor Jerre.

Everyone is welcome!  Our group has expanded to include ladies from other denominations.  Come to a meeting or contact either of these ladies for more information.  Gail Kuehl can be reached at 785-625-5558 or gail@mchays.com.  Kari Schultz can be reached at 785-625-7440 or kschultz@eaglecom.net

There are shawls on hand so that one can be accessed when needed.  Please contact the church office at 785-625-3408 if you know of someone who should have a prayer shawl.
